In this recorded cooking lesson, I’ll guide you step-by-step through creating a savoury pork filling loaded with onion, celery, carrots, fresh ginger and garlic, then seasoned with fennel, garam masala, oyster sauce and an optional kick of sambal oelek.
Â
Instead of traditional spring roll wrappers, we’ll use delicate sheets of phyllo pastry, brushed with melted butter and rolled around the filling before being baked until beautifully crisp and golden. The result is an irresistible combination of flaky, buttery pastry and a rich, savoury filling.
Â
This lesson is divided into two easy-to-follow video parts, so you can work along with me at your own pace while learning how to handle, fold and roll phyllo successfully.

And here’s another reason you’re going to love them: they’re freezer-friendly! Make a batch ahead of time and keep them tucked away in your freezer, ready to go when unexpected company drops by, you need a quick appetizer, or one of those last-minute “What are we having for dinner?” moments strikes.
Â
Serve them warm with your favourite Asian dipping sauce or something as simple as plum sauce. They’re fantastic as an appetizer, party food, game-day snack, quick meal or anytime you want something crispy, savoury and a little different.
