PARSLEY IS WORLD PEACE IN DISGUISE

NEW Revised 2026 Edition by Chef Dez

Food is something we need to survive. But it can also be one of the greatest tools we have for living a richer, more connected life.

What if cooking wasn't simply about putting dinner on the table?

What if the food you prepare, the meals you share, and even the way you experience a single bite could become opportunities to strengthen relationships, create memories, build confidence, celebrate your individuality, and bring more joy into everyday life?

That is the heart of Parsley Is World Peace in Disguise.

In this newly revised edition, Chef Dez takes you beyond recipes and techniques to explore something much bigger: our relationship with food and with each other.

This is not a cookbook.

It's a book about life, with food as the common thread.

Through personal stories, humour, life lessons, practical ideas, and thought-provoking assignments, Dez challenges you to reconsider something you experience every single day.

Food.

You will discover how becoming more aware of your senses can transform an ordinary meal, why cooking should never be treated like vacuuming, how the kitchen can strengthen families and teach children lessons that last a lifetime, and why your personal tastes should never require anyone else's approval.

You'll explore moderation and developing a healthier, more peaceful relationship with food without removing the pleasure from eating. You'll discover the value of supporting the butchers, bakers, farmers, merchants, and food producers within your community.

And ultimately, you'll explore one of the most powerful ideas behind this entire book:

Food has no borders.

Every culture cooks.

Every culture gathers.

Every culture celebrates.

Every culture has recipes, ingredients, traditions, and stories that have travelled from one generation to another.

We may speak different languages, come from different backgrounds, hold different beliefs, and live completely different lives, but eventually we all arrive at a table.

And we all need to eat.

A Book About More Than Cooking

Throughout these pages, Chef Dez invites you to think differently about your kitchen and the role food plays in your life.

You'll explore ideas including:

  • Rediscovering the sensory experience of eating
  • Transforming cooking from an obligation into an opportunity
  • Using food to strengthen relationships and bring people together
  • Creating meaningful food memories with children and family
  • Becoming confident and proud of your own tastes
  • Developing moderation instead of living by deprivation
  • Creating a healthier relationship with food through awareness
  • Supporting local merchants and becoming more connected to your community
  • Exploring cultures and traditions through their food
  • Using the kitchen as a place for creativity, learning, conversation, and connection
  • Recognizing the extraordinary moments hiding inside ordinary meals

At the end of the chapters, you'll also be challenged with simple assignments designed to move these ideas off the page and into your life.

Because reading about change is one thing.

Living it is another.

The Story Behind the Revised Edition

The original edition of Parsley Is World Peace in Disguise was published in 2017 during an incredibly emotional period in Dez's life.

The book was dedicated to his dear friend and business partner, Caryn Zimmerman, who passed away in June 2017 after a brief battle with cancer.

In the grief following her passing, Dez felt an urgency to finish the book. He wanted to honour Caryn while the memories, emotions, and mourning surrounding her loss were still so immediate.

But with time came perspective.

Over the following nine years, after writing additional books, including his memoir, KEEP. MOVING. FORWARD. The Success Formula, Dez continued developing not only as an author, but also as a person.

And he realized something important.

The message he had originally wanted this book to carry deserved more.

So he returned to it.

This revised edition isn't simply an updated version of the original book. It is a chance to finally express the message with the depth, clarity, maturity, and purpose he originally wanted it to have.

And in doing so, to honour Caryn once again.

Parsley Really Can Be World Peace in Disguise

The title may sound whimsical at first.

But its message is surprisingly simple.

Imagine what could happen if we became a little more willing to sit together.

To cook together.

To share what we have.

To learn about one another.

To welcome someone into our kitchen.

To become curious about another culture instead of fearful of its differences.

To bring someone a meal when they're struggling.

To teach a child how to cook.

To support the people producing food within our communities.

To put our phones down for a while and actually talk across the dinner table.

None of these actions will solve every problem in the world.

But they might improve someone's world.

And sometimes changing the world begins much closer to home than we imagine.

Sometimes it begins in the kitchen.

Sometimes it begins around a table.

Sometimes it begins with something as simple as sharing food.

Your Kitchen Is Already Waiting.

You don't need professional culinary training.

You don't need expensive equipment.

You don't need exotic ingredients.

And you certainly don't need anyone else's permission to enjoy the foods you love.

You already have the most important ingredient:

The opportunity to begin.

Cook something.

Taste something new.

Invite someone over.

Teach a child.

Call your mother and ask for that old family recipe.

Visit your local butcher.

Try a food from another culture.

Set the table on a Tuesday night just because you can.

And above all...

Never underestimate what can happen when people gather around food.
